Alaska's Inside Passage:
Whales, Grizzlies, and Glaciers... An Adventure Cruise — with optional kayaking —from Sitka to Admiralty Island to Juneau

July 18-25, 1999
Rating: H-L/Easy-Moderate
Cost: $2295
Deposit: $400
Our Inside Passage adventure begins in Sitka, where you'll board Raven's Fire, a comfortable 60-foot motor vessel that will serve as our mobile wilderness lodge for the next seven days. Barbara Bingham is our captain and a naturalist with 15 years experience cruising in the Inside Passage and observing the wildlife there. We'll visit well-known destinations in the Inland Passage as well as quiet, little-known bays (one with a near-by hot springs where we'll soak one evening after dinner).

Kayaks will be on board Raven's Fire and we can paddle in areas dotted with small islands with opportunities to spot whales, sea lions and other marine wildlife. We'll cruise along the coast of Admiralty Island which has both the greatest nesting concentration of bald eagles and the greatest breeding concentration of grizzly bears in the world.

We'll explore Frederick Sound and spectacular fjords (Tracy & Endicott Arms) with huge glaciers. Here there will be a good chance of seeing black bears, mountain goats, seals, eagles, seabirds--and waterfalls cascading down into bays where we anchor in the evening.

Our cruise finishes in Juneau, Alaska's capital, accessible only by boat or by air. Group limit, 8 members. Call us for detailed itinerary.
