August 5-11, 2000
|This exciting six-day hike along the
John Muir Trail goes through the heart of the high Sierra. Pack animals carry the load,
leaving you completely free to enjoy the gorgeous mountain scenery.
We'll hike about
6-7 miles a day and our route takes us to lovely Thousand Island Lake with incredible
views of Mt. Banner and Mt. Ritter, through the Ansel Adams Wilderness , past Mt. Lyell,
Yosemite's highest peak, and finally along the banks of the Tuolumne River and down to
Tuolumne Meadows. Each afternoon we'll meet our packer and pack animals in that day's
camp, and there will be time for exploring, fishing, or taking a dip in a nearby lake.
Spectacular scenery, wonderful food, camaraderie and good conversation around the
campfire. Group size limited to 11 participants only.
