Go Light Wilderness
You haven't done much camping before, and you wonder
what to expect? And what should you bring with you? If you're backpacking,
how do you fit your gear into a pack?
These subjects, and more, are covered in our popular
Pre-Trip Classes. You learn about the selection
of lightweight gear to suit your needs, and the tricks of layering
clothing and choosing the right fabrics. You'll find out how to
purify water and how to read a topographical map.
This year we're also focusing on some fundamentals
of light backpacking, with the goal of keeping a backpack under
30 lbs for a weekend trip. Come learn about a new system of packing
that's become popular with backpacking enthusiasts.
With concern for the environment, you'll learn
the basics of low-impact camping. And you'll pick up tips on how
to keep yourself safe and comfortable while roughing it.
The class emphasizes backpacking fundamentals,
but novices taking other trips will benefit from it.
A Pre-Trip Class is free if you've signed up for
a trip. Otherwise, the cost is $50. Contact us, and reserve a space
